Use this tool to add tone marks to pinyin or to convert tone number (e.g. hao3) to tone marks.

Although you can use the red buttons to add tone marks, we highly recommend you use the number method (e.g. hao3) for speed and placement of the accent above the correct vowel. [Hint: Type "v" for "ü"]
Note: You do not need to use this tool to enter pinyin in this dictionary.

Here’s What the WCC Elves Have Been Up To August 17 – August 23

Last week we went forth and released our first press release – scary stuff! You might have seen me in the glamorous role of ‘Myself’ in the WCC Dictionary video, which is probably even more scary!   • Our iOS WCC Dictionary update was released and now has the ‘Create Unlimited List’ feature!
  • If you have a Written Chinese Study Space account, you can now buy books and flashcards from the WCC Corner Shop and sync them to your iOS or Android mobile app!
  • WCC Bigrams and WCC Character apps had a minor update
  • We had our first press release!

    Superstar Chamcen has been planning and designing the fabulous new Written Chinese Homepage for a while now to make sure it was so awesome all you guys would wanna do was learn Chinese! We were so excited and pleased to finally see it in all it’s glory! We hope you love it as much as we do. Let us know what you think!


    Our WCC Dictionary got an upgrade last week and now has a feature a lot of your guys have asked for: a create your own flashcards function! Currently, it’s only available for iOS (thank you, Apple lords), but hold your horses Android users, the same update will be available for you next week, so get planning your new flashcard lists!
