Use this tool to add tone marks to pinyin or to convert tone number (e.g. hao3) to tone marks.

Although you can use the red buttons to add tone marks, we highly recommend you use the number method (e.g. hao3) for speed and placement of the accent above the correct vowel. [Hint: Type "v" for "ü"]
Note: You do not need to use this tool to enter pinyin in this dictionary.

Here’s What The Written Chinese Elves Have Been Up To October 31 – November 6

Over the last week in the Written Chinese Office…

I drooled all over our new set of flashcards specifically for studying food and drink and we ate huge pieces of cake to celebrate some elfish birthdays!

Our food and drink flashcard set has over 300 words for you to study (using our new flashcard system) and are available on your iOS and Android devices AND also on the web.

Take a look at our Food and Drink flashcards and many others in the Written Chinese Dictionary App and our Online Dictionary.

If you use our Dictionary already tap the GET MORE FLASHCARDS in the Study section of the app to see our whole flashcard range.

If you haven’t got an iOS or Android device, don’t worry, you can still study on the web with our Online Study Space. You can access your flashcard sets, read your story books and learn how to write characters with our Chinese character stroke animations.

Happy Studying!
