Study
This week we’re learning the character 个, which is known as a classifier or a measure word. When it is used with a number, such as 一个, It’s the equivalent of the article ‘a/an’ in English. There are different measure words depending on the size, shape, type, or variety.
For example, the measure word for small animals, such as dogs, is 只.
‘A dog’ is 一只狗 (yì zhī gǒu).
Remember the tone change, so the original tone of 一 (yī), becomes yì.
