Use this tool to add tone marks to pinyin or to convert tone number (e.g. hao3) to tone marks.

Although you can use the red buttons to add tone marks, we highly recommend you use the number method (e.g. hao3) for speed and placement of the accent above the correct vowel. [Hint: Type "v" for "ü"]
Note: You do not need to use this tool to enter pinyin in this dictionary.

Study

As in English, there are some verbs in Chinese that have two objects.

The first object is usually a person involved in the action, and the second object is the thing the action happens to.

The sentence pattern is: Subject + Verb + Object 1 + Object 2

For example,

我可以问你一个问题吗? Can I ask you a question?

In this example 你 is object 1, 问题 is object 2.
