Use this tool to add tone marks to pinyin or to convert tone number (e.g. hao3) to tone marks.

Although you can use the red buttons to add tone marks, we highly recommend you use the number method (e.g. hao3) for speed and placement of the accent above the correct vowel. [Hint: Type "v" for "ü"]
Note: You do not need to use this tool to enter pinyin in this dictionary.

(Click on each of the Chinese words below to take a look.)

已经 – already

一起 – together/in the same place

意思 – opinion/idea/meaning

– cloudy/overcast/yin (the negative principle of yin and yang)

因为 – because/owing to

Study

To express that you are doing something together with someone else, you can use 一起. Although 一起 has the pinyin yī qǐ, it’s actually pronounced yí qǐ because of tone change.

You can use the sentence pattern: Subject + 一起 + Verb + Object.

For example,

他们下班后会一起去购物。 They will go shopping together once they finish work.
