Study

This week, we’re studying the word ‘to teach’. You might have noticed that the left side of the character is made up of two radicals. This is known as 会意 an associative compound or combined ideograph. In the character, the radical 老 ‘old’ and 子 ‘child’ show the meaning of the character. Here, the older person, shown with 老 educated the younger 子.
