经过 can be used as both a verb and a preposition. When it’s used as a verb, it means ‘to pass by’, whereas when it’s a preposition, it’s used to express an experience someone went ‘through’.
Verb – ‘to pass by’
For example,
我每天上班都经过这里。 I pass by here every day on my way to work.
Preposition – ‘through’
You can use the sentence pattern, 经过 + Time, …
For example,
经过一个月的努力，他完成这个项目。 After a month of hard work, he completed the project.
