Who Is This Program For?

This is meant for a few different cases, let’s outline them below:

Chinese Language Program

Do you have a learning institution for students of Mandarin Chinese? You probably have learning programs, flash cards, stories, and other materials you offer your students. In what format do you give them to your students? Maybe by paper, or by excel and PDF? Or if you’re a bigger institution you may have your own CDs and books! All of this material can be used in our new program – so read on!

Are you a Chinese language teacher or tutor?

Do you currently tutor those trying to learn Chinese? Perhaps 1 on 1 and in person, or group calls on Skype? How do you decide which teaching materials to use with your students? Maybe you have some materials prepared, or maybe you tell your students to use some books or apps to share your learning experience with and have them follow along with you. You probably also expect them to do homework between tutoring sessions, and want to see their progress. If that’s the case, then this program is perfect for you, read on!

The WCC Dictionary Content Marketplace Program

This program is called the WCC Dictionary Content Marketplace Program – what does that mean? You may be familiar with our WCC Dictionary, that allows students of Chinese to learn Chinese on the go. This is done by looking up words or characters in our mobile dictionary and saving some as flash cards in a quicklist. We had a lot of feedback that suggest our dictionary users wanted more study materials such as downloadable flashcard kits, and that they are willing to pay for them.

Creating a Win-Win-Win Synergy With The Chinese Teaching Community

So, after a team brainstorming session, we decided that it would be a great opportunity to open up our mobile app and allow teachers to upload their teaching materials and resell them to our users. Our users were asking for this kind of content, and our app was gaining traction as a dictionary and flash card system. So we decided to open it up for teachers to share their materials and get compensated at the same time.

Create A Content Provider Business Account With Us

This program is still in the early stages, and in order to create what we have titled a “content provider business account” with us, you need to contact us and introduce yourself and your program in the email. We will then send you a formal proposal and contract for you to sign. Once both parties are comfortable, you will submit your content to us for listing in the mobile app.

Here’s An Example Of How It Will Look

Curious to see how it will work in action? We have worked with a few teachers in an alpha test and here are some screenshots from the mobile app with their content listed:

By clicking either in the “Chinese Stories” Section or in the “Flash Card Sets” Section, you will see the listing of various content that the user can add to their account. We list the author and the price (that you define) and the user can choose to buy this content as an “in-app purchase” on their account. This will then be billed on their Android or Apple iTunes account and we will be paid as the app provider in the app network. Once the funds settle, we will have a profit share agreement agreement with you and make payments monthly.

Because this is still in the early stages, we will not have real time login with reports, we will send you regular reports or if you email us and request them we will run a report for you. As this is a new program, your feedback and input will be weighed heavily for the future development of this platform.

We will also list you on our WCC partner page so that the students and potential students can verify this before signing up for your program. Trust is important in any business and we are sure this will strengthen the trust relationship between you and your students.

Current Case Study – Domino Chinese

We did an alpha run with Felix from Domino Chinese and he has had a blast with it! He has a lot of flash cards and stories in his online training program, and was directing his students to pay for another dictionary to use his materials – without any way to give a discount to his students for this program! He was upset he couldn’t do something for his students, but now is able to direct them to his WCC Dictionary, and offer his materials at 25% of the price of the other app and also now able to earn a commission on top of it

We have paid him monthly for his sales and he is able to help his students save a lot of money at the same time. Like we said earlier, this creates a win-win-win opportunity – the student saves money, the teacher makes money, and we have happy users on the dictionary.

How The Program Works

Once you apply and are accepted to be a content provider, you submit your content. There are three kinds of content we currently work with in the WCC Dictionary mobile app, described below.

Stories

Chinese learning stories are fun ways for students to practice their Chinese. This needs to be in four ways – 1) English, 2) Chinese Characters, 3) Chinese Pinyin, and 4) Images / artwork to go along with the story. Though you may not have or think artwork is necessary – we believe it helps the learner strengthen their learning experience. If you need help with any or all of these parts, please discuss with your account representative when establishing your account with us.

Flash Cards

This is the cornerstone of Chinese learning, or any language learning. Here you break up sets of flash cards into learn-able “Chunks” that are themed around your lesson plan. You can have all of them in one set, but we advise to break them up into stages of learning and difficulty, as well as themes for the student. Currently we do not have a limit of the amount of flash card sets you can list. The price is up to you, but we will show the student how many flash cards are in the set before they purchase so keep that in mind.
