is used to express distance and it’s most often used with the adjective (jìn) meaning ‘close’, or (yuǎn) ‘far.’

For example:

Location 1 + 离 + Location 2 + Adjective + 近 / 远

这个酒店离火车站很近。(zhè ge jiǔ diàn lí huǒ chē zhàn hěn jìn)

This hotel is very close to the train station.
